December 27th, 2007 by airddart

I hope my luck will change in 2008 for the’ elusive Isabella Aird. I will have to hire someone to find her as I am lost in the maze of  the internet websites looking for her. I wish she had a marriage certificate or even a death certificate. How can this be so hard a job, but I am determinded to find her before my Father Dies. This was a important person as this was his grandmother who he never thought he would find a her real Name. To all those on the quest of finding the their Family I wish you all A Happy New Year.

Still looking for Isabella Ballantyne Marshall Aird

  1. I have been all over the place and I still cannot say that I have found My Isabella, though I have found some more siblings but I just cannot find her marriage or a death. I still think she was a spinster til her death. Don’t ask me why, it is a gut feeling. I am not sure if she stay in England or went back to Scotland and there seems to be quite a few Isabella Airds. I even though maybe she hitched a ride on a ship for America. Still no replys to my questions on the boards. I think it is a lost cause but will keep on keeping on as they say.

Oh Isabella where are you????

Well I have found Isabella’s mother Barbara Stewart Thomson Aird and father John Aird and many Sister’s Jessie Armour Aird deceased 1892 in Camberwell London also a Sister Mary T. Aird and a Barbara Jane Aird both who married brothers, Henry James Marsh and a Edward William Marsh. and a new brother William who was 22 in 1901. They had moved down to London and It seems  that James Aird and Adam T. Aird must have stayed in Edinburgh.Isabella is not on the 1901 Census but was on the 1891 Census,  is she? There is an Isabella Aird in1901 Census in Scotland but she is only 44 year old. My  Isabella is younger that if she was born in 1865.The Census says that this Isabella was Lame and single and lived alone. I am debateing on the idea to send for this page with this Isabella name on it! I can’t find any death of records of her in England although the rest seem to have died in London.

The ghost of Isabella

Well I am having a terrible time trying to track down my Isabella Ballantine Marshall Aird. I didn’t think that there would be so many Isabella’s In Great Britian. I still do not know if she if from Scotland or England. I am trying to narrow it down but it seems unless I get at least 20 birth Cert  which I do not want to do I will not get any closer to her. May be I should hire a genealogy professional to see if they can get any closer to her. All I know is that she is a  Great Grandmother and she was the mother of Alfred Aird who ended up in St Olave’s In London England  1893 Dec 26 in Maze Pond which was on the wharf area near London Bridge.

Grandpa Aird’s Birth Certificate has arrived.

March 26th, 2007 by airddart

I am very excited as it say’s a Isabella Marshall Aird was the mother and she had my grandfather on December 26 1893 in Mazy pond which I see from the internet is under the London Bridge and is in the Poor area of the City. It also says it was the Wharf area which makes believe that she was a street walker even though she is a Domestic Servant. There was no father on the birth cert.  I wonder if Aird was the father of the Baby????

Going to the Library!

February 27th, 2007 by airddart

I know that I will have to get off my duff and get going so I will be getting in contact with my local Library to see what they have for info on genealogy. It seems that I will have to look up more on Workhouses and Opranages when it comes to Grandfather. I really wish I could find out his background but if he was born or left at a workhouse in the late 1890’s I bet they didn’t keep records on his Mother. I have send away for his birth cert and hope to find out if anything is on this. My father is 84 and is very ill and I am going for find out his background out before he leaves us. This is his father  that I am looking for the birth mother. With all the boys in the family deceased it would be nice to see where we came from besides knowing that Granddad was in a Workhouse. They even called the poor wee baby’s INMATES. I can see why they grew up so hard and then went to Canada to get away from it all, when he was very young13, I think, and then joined the Canadian Army and went to fight for King and Country. I will see if they have more info on Workhouses in London.

Why do they make it so hard to find family and why is it such a money making industry ? Every where I look it seems to cost me mucho bucks. It seems that the people on the genealogy forums want to help but then disappear when you ask them questions. They want MONEY
