Jersey Archive is the Island’s national repository holding archival material from the States of Jersey, Government Departments, the royal court, parishes, churches, businesses, societies and individuals. 

The online catalogue includes images of some of the most popular documents. These can be downloaded either on a pay per view basis or by becoming a subscriber. 

Jersey Archives' top five online collections are: 

1 German Occupation Registration Cards

The Channel Islands were the only part of Britain to be occupied by the German Army during the Second World War. The registration cards form a census of the Island population from 1941 – 1945 and include photographs of individuals. 

2 Church Records

The Channel Islands Family History Society transcriptions of baptisms, marriages and burials from the 16th century to 1842 are available to view online.

Archive volunteers have attached online images of all Church of England marriages from 1842 to 1935 and are now adding baptism records post 1842. There are thousands of original Catholic, Methodist and Independent Church baptism records available. 

3 Wills of Movable Property

Images of wills dating from 1660 to the 1960s are available to view online. The wills are catalogued and indexed by the individual’s name. 

4 Jersey General Hospital Admission Records

The Jersey General Hospital acted as the Island’s poorhouse as well as catering to the medical needs of the population. 19th-century records of admissions have been indexed and images are available to view online. 

5 Funeral Director’s Records

The records of a number of St Helier Funeral Director’s firm’s business records are fully digitized and available online for you to search. The entries include information such as the name and age of the person buried, their immediate relations, the place and date of death, as well as place of burial.
