Join us for the March Family Tree Study Club meeting, at which Dr Dean Kirby will be tutoring us in how to search for an Irish ancestor’s townland (and why this is so valuable to do)
Thrilling and fascinating, locating the townland of our Irish ancestors is the key clue that will help us unlock their family story. The townland is the smallest administrative unit in Ireland – so finding your ancestor’s townland will allow you to plot their home place in Ireland to within a few fields.
Pinpointing the location your ancestor came from in Ireland is helpful to your genealogical research on so many fronts, from planning your genealogy research trip, to tracking down further records, or identifying which ancestor – by possibly many of the same name – is yours.
When & where?
The meeting will take place on Zoom, on Tuesday 11 March, 1-2pm. (UK time)
