Join us for the February Family Tree DNA Club webinar, at which John Cleary will tutor on the topic of ‘The XYZ of Y DNA, Part 2: Advanced Y testing and building the Y-line tree’.

In Part 1 of the XYZ of Y DNA, John looked at STR (marker) testing, and their strengths and weaknesses for genealogy research, along with some jargon busting.

In Part 2 he will turn the attention onto advanced Y testing, which uses a different kind of genetic mutation, the SNP.

This allows more reliable trees to be built for the Y-DNA father’s line, which can extend genealogical discovery back across several centuries.

We will again do some jargon busting and discuss when and for what kind of genealogy projects advanced Y testing can be useful.

(To refresh yourself with Part 1, if you are a member of Family Tree Plus, please see the recording of John’s presentation at the October 2024 DNA Club meeting).
