About the Research Skills Studio

Taking place from 29 April to to 20 May, the Research Skills Studio online genealogy course costs £109 (or just £69 for Family Tree subscribers or Family Tree Plus members).

Join us for Sophie’s four-week online family history Zoom course – the Research Skills Studio – starting 29 April 2024.

The online course, tutored by Sophie and hosted by Family Tree, will include:

  • expert family history webinar tutorials;
  • group discussions;
  • and a digital copy of Sophie’s Research Skills Workbook.

On Dr Sophie Kay's Research Skills Studio course, you will learn how searching in a methodical manner will help you make the most of your family history time. You'll also master the family history skills to:

  • Equip yourself with the family history tactics you need to research in a more thorough manner;
  • & Gain greater insights to the past and the lives of your ancestors.

Join the course, and learn a research approach that will maximise your chances of research success - even when tackling challenging family history problems.

  • Session 1 (Tuesday 29 Apr. 7.30-9pm): Search Superpowers
  • Session 2 (Tuesday 6 May. 7.30-9pm): Mapping Magic
  • Session 3 (Tuesday 13 May. 7.30-9pm): Evidence Expeditions
  • Session 4 (Tuesday 20 May. 7.30-9pm): Sibling Serendipity

All the sessions will be presented live and the video recordings will be made available within 24 hours of the live session. The recordings will remain available to you until 20 June 2025.

The Research Skills Workbook is also be available as a standalone printed publication priced £20 (£11.99 FT subscribers or members of Family Tree Plus), plus postage.
