About Armed Forces Day 2022
Armed Forces Day is held annually to remember the work of HM Armed Forces, current, veterans and past. Veterans' Day was first observed in 2006, becoming Armed Forces Day in 2009, and has been celebrated annually since then (bar Covid). This year the Armed Forces Day National Event will be hosted by Scarborough (each year sees a different town or city hold this honour).

Communities across the UK will be holding events to celebrate Armed Forces Day 2022. To find an event near you, click here. In the South East a unique, official Armed Forces Day Memorial Convoy with up to 60 military vehicles including a special Veterans coach will be driving through Hampshire for example. The convoy will be waved off by HM Queens representative, the Lord Lieutenant of Hampshire. Check back at the Family Tree website when we’ll share news of the route of the convoy and the historical significance of the locations that the convoy will be driving through. To find out more about the convoy, see the dedicated Armed Forces Day Memorial Convoy Facebook page. The convoy is supported by Think Ford, the Southern Coop, and the Royal British Legion Riders Branch. While Armed Forces Day is not a charity event, any funds generated will go to support the Royal British Legion.
