4 fabulous things to do at Family Tree Live if you’re new to family history

Curious about your family tree but not sure where to begin?

Come along to Family Tree Live and discover all you need to get started!

Plan your perfect day…

  1. Join in with a family history workshop

Pull up your chair and join in with a workshop. Each workshop is a small group (max 10 people), with a friendly, dedicated tutor who’s there to give you hands-on help with beginner family history know-how.

Choose from workshops such as:

  • Getting started – your first 3 steps in family history
  • Stuck at the start (if you don’t know your parents or grandparents, or were adopted)
  • Discover your Victorian ancestors in the census
  • Getting started – how to use birth, marriage and death certificates for family history

  1. Take a seat at a talk

Choose from the talks in our lecture programme, which includes topics such as old family photos, how to trace family before World War 2, DNA for beginners, and an introduction to surname research.

  1. Have a one-to-one advice session

Get bespoke one-to-one advice from a professional researcher to help you piece together the bits of your family tree you know, and what to find out next.

  1. Shop til you drop

From lovely family history books for learning more, to the essential home archiving supplies and family tree charts, software, apps, DNA test kits, courses, organisations and more(?!) – you’ll find all the supplies you need for your family history under one roof at Family Tree Live (many with special show discount prices too).

Come along to Family Tree Live curious about your family history, and by the time you go home, you’ll be well on the way to tracing your family tree.

There’s so much to look forward to, we haven’t even mentioned the cute little Village Green we’ve got planned for meet-ups, the living history displays, and the free goodie bags for children at the show…

Anyway, to plan your perfect day, be sure to pre-book your ticket to Family Tree Live. It’s just £12 per person (kids up to 16 go free), and that includes all your workshops, lectures & one-to-one (first come, first served)
