Introducing Graham Holton’s Friday talk, ‘Not in ScotlandsPeople so where could they be?’:

Nowadays the temptation may be to look online, and if we can’t find it there, assume that that’s the end of the road of our family history discoveries. Nothing could be further from the truth.

In his talk Graham Holton will look at other sources of birth, baptism, marriage, death and burial records not found on ScotlandsPeople.

ScotlandsPeople is the principal source of genealogical records for Scotland, but what should you do if you cannot find the information you are looking for there? This talk will look at a number of sources which do not appear on ScotlandsPeople, including other church records, records of burials, monumental inscriptions and newspapers.

This talk is for you if you want to grow your Scottish family history research know-how.

Suitable for those wishing to trace their Scottish ancestry and smash through their Scottish brick walls.

Introducing Graham Holton’s Saturday talk, ‘An introduction to Y-DNA, SNPS and SNP testing’:

Graham Holton’s presentation will emphasise the importance of Y-DNA SNP testing as an essential follow up to STR testing. Following a look at the limitations of STR testing, the presentation will consider the various types of SNP tests available, how to decide on what testing to do, including the importance of DNA projects in this process, and the dating of new SNPs. These points will be illustrated by examples and there will also be some thoughts on the future place of SNP testing in Y-DNA research.

This talk is for you if you want to learn more about your fatherline and explore how Y-DNA testing can help you do this.

Suitable for those wishing to learn about and enhance their knowledge of Y-DNA testing.
