This is your chance to learn!
As a visitor to Family Tree Live you will be able to learn from a comprehensive range of family history lectures across multiple lecture theatres. These will include: world-class speakers who are established experts in the field of genealogy; and specialists on core and unique aspects of family history research.
The lecture programme will comprise topics suitable for all levels of family history visitor, from those just starting to research their family trees, to those with many years, even decades, of experience under their belts.
You'll gain hands-on family history experience!
Join in with genealogy and get those family history search skills you need to find those ancestors. In our dedicated workshop area you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience looking at key family history documents, old photos, memorabilia, plus learning about online search tips and hacks, software, and more.
There will be a full workshop programme, with each workshop manned by a knowledgeable and approachable tutor on the subject, with small groups of up to 10-15 people, seated at a table, providing you with a really informative, interactive, hands-on learning experience.
You can take a DNA test in the Family Tree DNA Hub
Come and get to grips with the latest tool in the genealogy tool box – DNA tests! Whether you’re just thinking about taking a test, or whether you have masses of family history experience, having a DNA test can add whole new dimensions to your sense of your past.
Leading family history DNA testing company Family Tree DNA, who will be sponsoring the Family Tree DNA Hub, will provide visitors of all levels of DNA knowledge with the opportunity to buy DNA tests, take DNA tests, and of course to find out what their DNA test results mean, and how to use their results to enhance their family history findings.
The DNA Hub will have a DNA lecture theatre with a bespoke programme of DNA lectures running through the day manned by experts from the International Society of Genetic Genealogists (ISOGG).
You'll benefit from one-to-one advice
Got a family history conundrum that you just can’t solve? At Family Tree Live you will have the chance to ask a professional genealogist to help you there and then! The Association of Genealogists and Researchers in Archives (AGRA) – leading professional genealogists – will be on hand to look at your research and provide you with useful leads. One-to-one ask-the-expert sessions will typically last 15-20 minutes. So be sure to pack your family history notes and come and get help!
Enjoy family friendly activities
The team from Family Tree Live are passionate about getting people of all ages, and all walks of life, into doing their family history. To keep children entertained throughout the day (did we say? Under 16s go free!) – there’ll be a ‘time traveller treasure hunt’ for younger visitors, plus other inspiring historical goodies.
