When does the masterclass take place?

29 April to 20 May 2025

All the sessions will be presented live and the video recordings will be made available within 24 hours of the live session.

The recordings will remain available to you until 20 June 2025.

  • Session 1 (Tuesday 29 Apr. 7.30-9pm): Search Superpowers
  • Session 2 (Tuesday 6 May. 7.30-9pm): Mapping Magic
  • Session 3 (Tuesday 13 May. 7.30-9pm): Evidence Expeditions
  • Session 4 (Tuesday 20 May. 7.30-9pm): Sibling Serendipity

About the course tutor, Dr Sophie Kay

From DNA to historical maps, from research methods to historical occupations, Dr. Sophie Kay is a professional genealogist and geneticist at Khronicle® (www.khronicle.co.uk) who loves all manner of family history research challenges.

She’s the Ancestry and Genealogy Expert for popular archaeology show, Time Team, and the specialist DNA Tutor for the Institute of Heraldic and Genealogical Studies, where she leads their Certificate qualifications in genetic genealogy. She’s a Member of AGRA, a UK organisation of professional genealogists, and also specialises in research methodology and historical maps.
